IMPORTANT HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION [back to top]

A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including certain light patterns, flashing lights, or saturated red colors. Exposure to certain patterns or backgrounds on a video monitor, or while playing video games attached to a monitor, may induce an epileptic-like seizure.

These conditions may induce previously undetected epileptic symptoms even in persons who have no history of prior seizures or epilepsy. If you, or anyone in your family, have a history of epilepsy or seizures, consult your physician prior to playing.

Immediately stop playing and consult a doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Dizziness
  • Altered vision
  • Eye or muscle twitches
  • Loss of awareness
  • Disorientation
  • Involuntary movement or convulsions

Parents should watch for or ask their children about the above symptoms - children and teenagers are more likely than adults to experience these seizures.

To reduce the likelihood of a seizure when playing video games:

  • Sit or stand as far from the screen as possible.
  • Play video games on the smallest available monitor.
  • Do not play if you are tired or need sleep.
  • Play in a well-lit room.
  • Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour.

GAMEPLAY [back to top]

Draft Phase

In this phase, you will receive new troops to deploy in your territories.

RECEIVING NEW TROOPS
You will receive a number of fresh Troops equal to the number of territories you control divided by three (with a minimum of 3 Troops). To that amount, you receive bonus Troops equal to the value of the RISK Card set you have traded-in (see below) and the value of the Continents you control (if any). The values of the Continents are:

  • North America = 5 bonus Troops
  • South America = 2 bonus Troops
  • Europe = 5 bonus Troops
  • Africa = 3 bonus Troops
  • Asia = 7 bonus Troops
  • Australia = 2 bonus Troops
Your new recruits will pile-up in the troop box, on the lower left corner of the screen. The card above will inform you of the exact number of troops you have available.

DEPLOYING TROOPS
You can deploy your troops in several ways:

You can drag a soldier playing piece from the troop box into a legal territory. A legal territory will be highlighted on the map and will start pulsing when you start moving the soldier playing piece. Drop the soldier into the desired territory and it will add 1 troop. You can either drag additional soldiers or use the wheel at the bottom of the screen to adjust the number of soldiers you wish to deploy there. When you're done, either use the validate button near the wheel or start another action.

You can also deploy troops by clicking on the highlighted territory you wish to add troops to. This will not automatically add a troop. The wheel will appear so that you can adjust the amount of troops you want to add. When you're done, either use the validate check button near the wheel or start another action.

You can also perform a pinch movement over the troop box to clump all soldier tokens into one. Deploy that one playing piece by dragging it your designated territory.

Should you want to move already deployed troops from one territory to another, simply drag the soldier playing piece from the origin territory to the target territory. One troop will automatically be moved. The wheel will not appear: if you want to move more than a single troop, you'll have to drag them individually.

You can revisit territories to adjust the exact number of troops at any time during the phase.

All new Troops must be deployed before you can move on to the Attack phase.

TRADING-IN RISK CARD SETS
At any point during the Draft Phase, you can trade-in sets of RISK cards for extra troops. You can see the number of cards that you hold on the card button. Click that button to open the card screen so you can interact with them.

If you have a set to trade-in, the game will move it automatically to the trade box and tell you how many bonus troops it is worth.

These cards can form sets of 3 cards with the same symbol (all soldiers, all tanks or all planes) or 3 cards each with a different symbol (soldier, tank and plane). Wild cards display all three symbols; these can be used as any symbol for the purpose of making a card set. The exact value of a card set depends on the cards rules used (see below). You can trade-in a card set as soon as you have a legal set, or you can opt to wait. If you accumulate 5 cards or more, you will be forced to trade-in sets until you have 4 cards or less.

PROGRESSIVE VALUE CARD RULE
The card sets have an increasing value:

  • The first set traded-in by any player is worth 4 Troops
  • The second set is worth 6 Troops
  • The third set is worth 8 Troops
  • The fourth set is worth 10 Troops
  • The fifth set is worth 15 Troops

All subsequent sets are worth 5 more Troops until it reaches a maximum of 60 Troops.

FIXED VALUE CARD RULE
Every combination of cards has a value that will not change during the course of the game:

  • 3 Soldiers are worth 4 Troops
  • 3 Tanks are worth 6 Troops
  • 3 Planes are worth 8 Troops
  • One of each is worth 10 Troops

Attack Phase

During the Attack Phase, attempt to conquer your opponent's territories.

All territories that you can launch an attack from are highlighted. Those territories must have at least two troops and be adjacent to an opponent's territory. Choose the territory you wish to attack from and lines will appear linking that territory with all possible targets. Drag the troop token or click on the territory you want to attack. To call off the attack or attack another territory instead, just drag or click on your own territory or another of your destination territories.

The dice will then be placed on the board. Interact with one die to select all available dice. You can throw them by sliding them into the board area. If you want to roll fewer dice, just click on the unwanted dice one at a time.

The opponent's dice will be rolled automatically.

The dice will then be paired and the highest value wins. The defender wins all ties.

For a BLITZ, press yellow button in the left hand corner to attack all at once.

If you succeed in conquering the target territory, all troops involved in the last round of attack will be automatically transferred into your new territory. The troop wheel will appear so you can transfer additional troops there if you wish. You need to hit the checkmark on the controls to confirm the transfer in order to proceed further in the game.

You can make as many attacks as you wish during the attack phase. When you have enough or if none of your territories can attack anymore, you can move to the next phase by using the Next Phase button.

Eliminating An Opponent

Eliminate your opponents by conquering their last territory. When this occurs, the opponent is removed from the game, and you will seize all their cards. If it brings your total of cards to 5 or more, you will be forced to immediately trade-in sets. You must trade in enough sets to bring your total cards below 5.

Fortify Phase

The last phase of the turn is the Fortify Phase. During this phase, you can transfer Troops between two of your territories that are neighbors or connected through a chain of your own territories. First, you need to select the origin territory you want to move troops from. Second, you must select a destination territory amongst the connected territories. Use the wheel to move any number of troops between the two territories, as long as at least one troop remains on each territory. Only one Fortify move is allowed during the phase.

Libtremor
The Tremor Vorbis I stream and file decoder provides an embeddable, integer-only library [libvorbisidec] intended for decoding all current and future Vorbis I compliant streams. The Tremor libvorbisidec library exposes an API intended to be as similar as possible to the familiar 'vorbisfile' library included with the open source Vorbis reference libraries distributed for free by Xiph.org. Tremor can be used along with any ANSI compliant stdio implementation for file/stream access, or use custom stream i/o routines provided by the embedded environment.
